Solaris
Well, today I purchased Solaris on DVD. I haven't seen it since the day it came out. At that time I didn't know what to think about it, but it'll probably live among the classics like 2001. The more I thought about it, the more I liked it. It was so wierd, though, I didn't want to see it again for a long time. Now I'm ready. Plus, it has commentary from both Steve Soderbergh and James Cameron. Should prove to be insightful.
The Solaris message boards had discussions about an original, longer version. They were all hopeful that it would be on the DVD. It doesn't appear to be. The original screenplay is, however. Maybe if someone goes through it, they can find out what was cut.
