Shaq Attack

Sheer brilliance? Or utter stupidity...?

Kerr's argument for adding him to the team is compelling and makes sense in theory, but we'll see. Let's just hope he can hold the middle court and give Nash and Stoudemire the freedom they need to be as offensive as possible.

Trade's a little strange.
Only Nash can make it work.
Arizona Shaq!

Brock, I'm surprise sometimes about your sports knowledge. I forget ther is more to you than screenwriting and being a ladies man.

I'm disappointed. The Suns would have won the championship last year if not for the suspensions, and they had the best record in the Western Conference when they made the trade. Dumb! Keep the team together.

Shaq is broken, and people have been calling for his retirement all year. I hope I get proven wrong.

Basketball is really the only sport where I have a passing knowledge, and that's only cause my dad shipped around the country with Zelmo Beatty when he was young - he's the one you should talk B-ball with.

Anything else...hockey, football, baseball, and I'm completely lost. Unless the players are ladies or screenwriters.

I have to say, I was a bit shocked by the b-ball post as well.
I agree with Josh. Phoenix will now shaq, I mean suck.

The more I think about it, the more I see it as a terrible move.

They could have traded for a number of other, BETTER players. Marion COULD have gone over to Boston in return for Garnett if only Kerr hadn't stomped that transaction. If this comes back to bite Phoenix in the butt, the team will deserve it. Ten to one, he's gone next season.

Apparently, everyone on the team wanted this one though. I'm absolutely blown away by that. The Suns had a very specific, revolutionary dynamic (one that Shaq doesn't fit into) and while I understand that (a) Nash is looking for someone else to lead the team when he's busy drilling the court and (b) the team needs someone different to round out their dynamic -- this is NOT the solution. They've taken a machine built for speed and tied an anchor to it.

And by the by, I'm not saying Garnett was up for trading just the other day -- I meant over the summer, before the Celtics became the powerhouse they've been this season.
