MVP
Aaaaaallllright, folks. Time to call your picks. Let's discuss who is walking away with the MVP this year, why and if they deserve it. Do you have any thoughts on who will win? Is it the same person who deserves it?
I'm calling Kobe Bryant. You could argue that he's virtually toe to toe with Lebron James and that therefore, James deserves it equally. But, aside from stats, look at what Kobe has done for the Lakers: he brought that team together. He is a fantastic player, but a better leader. And I think he's walking away with MVP because of it. Besides, James still has plenty to win.

I appreciate you throwing the picture of KG into the mix, but I would agree that I don't think he'll get it. His supporting cast is too good and too large, and he isn't overwhelming the stat sheet.
Kobe is probably a good pick. The factor that will probably put him over the top is that no one expected the Lakers to be this good. That's what gets the voter's juices flowing.
Yeah, KG seemed like the only other choice to throw up there. I agree with you though - he won't get it because the entire Celtics team has been playing well. KG is good, but he isn't a one-man-army like James or Bryant. And I think that's what is going to get it this year...the guy who is a team unto himself.
It's a wild and competitive year in the Western Conference, with so many tough teams. Strangely, though, it's mostly solid team efforts, with not a lot of standout individual performances... and that kind of leaves you with Kobe and LeBron by default. Maybe Chris Paul (>20ppg & >10apg and a team right near the top that no one expected to be there)?
Given the choice of Kobe or LeBron, I have to go with LeBron. At no time has Kobe ever elevated a single one of his teammates to a higher level. He's a devisive force, if anything. The supporting cast this year is better, with the younger players maturing and the role players gelling. I don't think it has much to do with Kobe one way or another.
LeBron on the other hand balances his gerat skills with maknig the whole team go, and is working with lesser talent overall in my opinion.
In a down year for MVP's, I go with LBJ!
I notoriously loathe LBJ, but that reasoning makes sense.
Oh, I'm dying to hear why you don't like him. He's seemed likable from day one to me. And you can't even play the overrated card. He was massively hyped, and actually managed to live up it to, for once. And got his team to the Finals in his fourth year.
Yeah, I don't see how you can loathe LeBron, unless it's the hype you loathe. He's immensely talented, and humble-to-boot. You're an all around player when you get 30.8 PPG, 8 RPG, and 7.4 APG.
