Playwriting
Hey ladies and gentle men, how's it going?
Well, chances are, you've clicked on this blog because the link was updated on the main page, or you just stumbled upon us by some blind chance. Personally, I've always been a fan of accidental discovery, especially when it's in the form of something
good. Hopefully, you'll enjoy your new discovery, our blog, and continue to come back for our regular updates. Likewise, as you've probably guessed by reading our description, we're a blog based upon the discussion of music, be it in listening to music, or actually creating music. Currently, I don't play any musical instruments...for the moment. So, chances are I'll be talking about new albums, favorite (or hated) groups and artists and the latest concert I just attended.
Speaking of concerts, fans of the now dead alternative group Sunny Day Realestate should check out the new project,
The Fire Theft. A few of the guys behind Sunny-Day have branched out and are now writing and recording new songs for an upcoming album. The new album is being discussed regularly at their website, and new MP3 tracks are posted every now and then to chart the band's musical progression during the creation of this new LP. Accordingly, The Fire Theft has decided to play some shows, so if you're a fan of the music, or just becoming interested in their new works, you should check out their tour schedule to see if they're coming near your area.
The Fire Theft will be showing up down here in tepid Phoenix Arizona in March, so you can be sure I'll be at the show. I'll give you the full scoop the next day. I highly recommend this group to most people...so you might like to check em out, see what they're all about.
So I'm surfing the net (or whatever the new buzz expression is) and I come across the
new website for Hey Mercedes, one of my favorite bands. Previously, Hey Mercedes had a very expensive looking and sharp Flash driven website. Perhaps too flashy... But the new website (which coincidently was created by the band's lead singer, Bob Nanna) sports a simplistic HTML design. No Flash, no buzz, no over technical appearance. Like some contorted Metamucil commercial or a lighter toned Kurt Cobain bodily illustration, the website is based upon medical renditions of the human body and its functions. Keen eyes will be able to point out that the links to various sections are shortened nick-name versions of some of the new songs HM has been touting on their recent tour. (Among these are Police -
Police Police Me, Revenge -
Quality Revenge At Last, and Playing and Fighting -
Playfighting) Good work Bob and crew!
Oh right, and finally, Reggie and the Full Effect put out a new album this week,
Under the Tray. I haven't bought it yet, but I plan to before the week is out. I'll post what I think about it.
Later,
-Brock
